Bronze FAQ
Answering your questions!
Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) is the active ingredient in all self-tanners. It reacts with amino acids in the outer layer of your skin to create a temporary tan without damaging the skin. Color develops within 6–8 hours and lasts 5–7 days, gradually fading as dead skin cells shed.
Sunscreen is a must! A spray tan does not protect the skin from UV rays from the sun.
To avoid transfer, wear loose, dark clothing after your session. While some bronzer may lightly rub off on fabrics, it’s rare with Aviva Labs' water-based formula—nicknamed “The Bedsheet Saver” by Vogue Australia for its quick-drying, non-sticky finish that won’t stain clothes or sheets.
No product is 100% allergy-proof, but fewer ingredients mean a lower risk of reaction. While some spray tans have 25–40 ingredients, Aviva Labs uses just 13. Many salons switch to Aviva Labs after clients experience fewer sensitivities compared to other brands.
Your tan will typically last 5–7 days, or up to 10 with proper aftercare. Since sunless tans affect only the top layer of skin, they fade as your skin naturally sheds. To extend your glow, exfoliate before your session and moisturize daily afterward.
Color begins developing within 2–4 hours and fully develops by 8–12 hours. If using a rapid formula, you can rinse in as little as 1–3 hours—your technician will give you exact timing.
• Exfoliate 24 hours before • Shave or wax at least 12–24 hours before • Arrive with clean, dry skin—no lotion, deodorant, makeup, or perfume • Wear loose, dark clothing to your appointment
• Wait the recommended time before rinsing • Use a gentle, sulfate-free cleanser • Pat skin dry (don’t rub) • Moisturize daily • Avoid chlorine, hot baths, and exfoliating products
Not at all! The solution is designed to develop into a natural-looking tan. Your technician will choose the right shade for your skin tone.
It’s best to check with your doctor first. The formula is gentle and non-toxic, but we recommend getting medical approval during pregnancy.
