What are some common contraindications?

The following is a list of medications that may cause concern and a dermatologist should be consulted before treatment. Please have a doctor clear you for sugaring if you are taking medications that thin the skin (such as Retin-A), blood thinners, or medications that cause you to be sun-sensitive.

  • Accutane (Acne medication) – You must be off of this medication for a minimum of one (1) year prior to service.

I tend to break out after hair removal, why?

There are several factors that can contribute to breaking out following treatment. If you break out immediately following your treatment, within 24 hours it could be a couple things. One is the body can have a histamine reaction to actually removing the hair alone, this is common on the face where there are millions of vellus hairs a square inch. Mens backs as well can have an histamine reaction. You can consider taking an antihistamine prior or following your appointment (it is advice to consult your doctor or pharmacist prior to) to minimize reaction if this has occurred before.

You could also cause an reaction or break out by not following after care such as excising immediately following your appointment (24-48 hour), using irritating or fragrant products, exfoliating, tanning, going in a hot tub our swimming pool, wearing tight fitting clothing, touching skin with dirty hands that may have dirt and bacterial.

Furthermore, between appointments depending on hair growth, when your hair starts to grow back (10-14 day range) it is very important you have been doing proper aftercare. Exfoliating and moisturizing are EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to preventing ingrown hairs from developing. Sugaring makes your hair softer and finer and grow back patchy and the hair is weaker, if you are not exfoliating (everywhere you sugar) the mouth of the follicle can be congested and that is when you get an ingrown hair. Sugaring decongests the follicle and exfoliates dead skin but you must maintain this following your appointment 2 to 3 times a week.

Will it hurt? as much as waxing?

Most people find that body sugaring hurts far less than waxing, but it all depends on your own pain tolerance. The first time is the worst, and after that pain is usually reduced to half or less for maintenance appointments.

How old do I have to be to get a Brazilian?

All guests booking for a thong bikini or brazilian must be be atleast 18 years of age, or atleast 16 with parental consent. All guests booking for a simple bikini must be atleast 14 years of age with parental consent. Please be prepared to present a vaild photo i.d., if needed.

48 Hours before & after your service Do Not:

  • Use a Tanning Bed with UV Lights
  • Spray Tan (unless you want little orange spots)
  • Exfoliate with scrubs or chemical serums

24 Hours after your service Do Not:

  • Participate in activities that cause friction or sweating
  • Use lotions, serums, or other skincare treatments
  • Swim or use communal bathing areas

Please inform us if you have:

  • Used any cosmetics or skincare products that contain Glycolic Acids or Lactic Acids within the last 48 hours
  • Any allergies or sensitivities that could affect your service
  • Experienced difficulty with a previous hair removal
  • A new piercing in the area that you want sugared
  • Used a chemical peel within the last 6-9 weeks
  • Received any Laser Resurfacing in the last year
  • A sunburn in the area you want sugared

How long should my hair be?

Ideally 1/4 of an inch so there is a more uniform length for your first appointment. After your first appointment, for best results your hair should be atleast 1/8 of an inch long, 10 – 14 days growth and 1/4 inch for legs.

How long should I wait between appointments?

For most services we recommend coming in every four to five weeks for best results. Timing may vary depending on your growth cycle and how long you’ve been sugaring. Ask your sugarist for their recommendation on your next visit.

I am prone to ingrowns, what can I do to help this?

There are a few basic things you can do to reduce and get rid of ingrown hairs. First and foremost, exfoliate and moisturise! Using a natural bristle body brush, exfoliating cloth or gloves; you’ll keep dead skin cells from trapping new hair growth under your skin. The second step is to keep your skin healthy and moisturized. A good rule of thumb is, whenever your skin gets wet (after every shower or bath) moisturize.

What is your cancellation policy?

No notice at all, and simply don’t come– you will be charged half the price of the appointment that was missed.  However if you let us know ahead of time preferable 24 hours we can move your appoint. We understand life happens and are willing to be flexible but no showing without a call is unacceptable.
